SOUTHBOROUGH — The town’s Economic Development Committee is requesting more money next year to hire a part-time coordinator.
The change in the budget request came after selectmen a few weeks ago asked the committee to come back with a new proposal to pay for the new hire. The budget was increased from $16,000 to $41,800.
Under the proposal, the new hire will make $23,400 or $24 an hour, according to the committee.
Development Committee Chairman David McCay said it is clear the committee need more “enhanced resources.”
“What we wanted to do was to proceed deliberately, but also prudently,” he said to selectmen last week. “We wanted to be fiscally responsible in the request and sensitive to the town’s overall budget.”
