The Economic Development Committee, appointed by the Board of Selectmen, serves in an advisory capacity and leadership role to provide recommendations about areas that impact all aspects of Economic Development as outlined in the Town’s 2008 Master Plan.
Key to EDC efforts is to work closely with the Town’s leadership and residents to retain and attract businesses that will expand and strengthen our business tax base while preserving the character and charm of Southborough. This will help the Town reduce its reliance on residential taxes and enhance the Town’s quality of life.
The EDC is composed of several committee members and will include a member of the Board of Selectmen, Town Administrator, Town Planner, and individuals who represent a cross section of business owners and leaders that understand the unique requirements of implementing the economic development goals of our Town’s 2008 Master Plan and the findings learned from the Town’s recent Economic Development Self Assessment Tool conducted by Northeastern University, Dukakis Center for Urban and Regional Policy.
To encourage the continued development of the Town’s industrial and commercial tax base by refining internal organizational structures, processes, and resources to effectively support economic development initiatives that will enable businesses to grow and prosper.
